The New York AG says broadband companies paid for 8.5M fake anti-net neutrality comments. Also, a 19-year-old in California submitted more than 7.7 million pro-net neutrality comments. So that whole public comment process went well.

Today on Cory Doctorow’s Pluralistic:
- Healthcare scammers recycle Indonesian COVID nose swabs. (“Recycled nose swabs” is not a phrase you ever want to hear.) Recycled nose swabs aren’t just gross–they export infections.
- Ed-tech apps spy on kids, and are made by companies run by terrible people who rely on junk science, punish kids for being poor or Black, abuse copyright law, and do their main work for tyrants in the Middle East and former Soviet Union.
- Telcos submitted 18 million fake comments to the FCC opposing net neutrality, according to the NY AG.

Cory Doctorow: “Stimmies killed the McJob” — The stimulus isn’t a living wage. Businesses that can’t hire workers because of the stimulus ought to pay enough to live on, instead of calling its potential employees lazy.
“If a company can’t afford to pay its workers enough to survive – to feed, clothe and shelter themselves – then it’s not a business, it’s a publicly subsized, badly run jobs program operated by a fast operator who enriches themselves at public expense.”
Republican John Cox is campaigning with a 1,000-pound bear. This is totally a thing that a serious candidate does.
