We watched a half-episode, 50 minutes, of “Inspector Morse” last night. This was the first episode of the second season, “The Wolvercote Tongue,” in which we see a group of wealthy, aged American tourists. Americans in 1987, viewed through English eyes. They’re played as annoying, but essentially harmless, bumpkins. America was a different, and better, country then. You can probably say the same for Britain too.
I think the actors playing Americans are British; their accents and manner seem exaggerated.
This episode is better than the first season, but still not as great as everybody says Morse is. Still, I’m enjoying it.
