Tony Maglio on The Wrap:
A good sitcom can make viewers forget their troubles for 22 minutes. Warning: The following list does not name any of those kinds of shows.
The British “Coupling” was one of the best sitcoms of all time, while the US version was one of the worst. That’s got to be some kind of milestone in entertainment history.
“Joey” doesn’t belong on this list. I liked the first season. It wasn’t great, but it was an entertaining half-hour sitcom. Matt LeBlanc is good at playing a good-hearted palooka, and Drea de Matteo and Jennifer Coolidge are also reliable.
I don’t think there are any good sitcoms anymore. It just seems to be a dead genre, like the Western or pirate movie.
