Franco Magnani, an Italian immigrant to San Francisco, became haunted by vivid hallucinations of Pontito, the bucolic small town in Italy where he grew up. He was compelled to pick up a paintbrush and start painting what he saw in his mind’s eye.

His paintings are astonishingly realistic and accurate depictions of a place he had not seen since he was a boy, decades earlier.
