What Happened to Val Kilmer? He’s Just Starting to Figure It Out. – Taffy Brodesser-Akner profiles the unlikely movie star for The New York Times.

Cancer has robbed Kilmer’s voice, but he still has a lot to say.

Kilmer is making a life work of spreading the word about his two greatest idols: Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy. Kilmer is a lifelong Christian Scientist; he believes faith put his cancer in remission, rather than the chemo and radical surgery he went through. Twain despised Eddy and wrote an entire book debunking Christian Science, but Kilmer thinks he’s got that figured out.

Val Kilmer’s Doc Holliday is absolutely one of my favorite characters in one of my favorite movies of all time.
